Lake District: Kendal

Hi guys,

So when we were in the Lakes recently, we also visited Kendal. We managed to visit Kendal on a beautifully sunny day - it was so picturesque!

We walked through town, and over a bridge and then upto Kendal Castle. It is free admission, you literally just walk into the ruins. If you enjoy walking, you can probably find a routed walk to take you through the ruins. There were families having a picnic inside the ruins which was lovely to see. You can walk through a bedroom and although it isn't in the best of shape, the framework of the castle is still there.

Kendal town centre is also very pretty with a mixture of high street brands and boutiques. We shopped around a little and then went for lunch. Kendal was so busy as it was a Sunday, but we then found a pub on the way back towards our caravan site, It was a place called Romneys. You can stay there too so we have bookmarked it for future reference. We got the carvery and it was absolutely perfect. We all got the carvery and the place was lovely. We sat on a raised platform and near the bar was an under the floor wine cellar which was such a good novelty factor.

It was a very child friendly atmosphere with a little beer garden too. Highly recommend if you are in that area.

Have you been to Kendal?
