Emporio Armani Diamonds

Hi guys,

I am a complete fan of marc jacobs, so much so that apart from the soap and glory body sprays, I rarely wear another scent.
However, for my birthday this year, I was given an emporio armani diamonds gift set and I was very surprised to find I really like the scent. It goes on strong at first but then leaves you with subtle notes all day long!
I can even smell it on a neck scarf a few days after I have worn it. I adored the scent and I would recommend it if you are looking for a new perfume (half price in superdrug at the mo).

See you soon,

Rachael xx

New York Trip: Day Six

Hi everyone.

Day Six in New York was lovely. We had planned a tour of Greenwich village but decided at the last minute to do the bus tour. We went for breakfast at Applebees on the morning. Just a standard American breakfast but was filling and set us up for the day. Applebees is a nationwide chain, so you don't quite get the standard you would in other places.

We then made our way to the bus tour pickup points in Times Square where there are a lot of sales people waiting to take your money for the tickets. We went to the Big Bus Tour as there was a 2 hour downton tour and a 2 hour uptown and harlem tour and we had plenty of time to do both. We saw a lot of things that we didn't see beforehand. You also just cannot beat the local knowledge from the tourguides. In particular, the uptown and Harlem tour was the best as we never would have thought to go to Harlem. I think it definitely gets a bad press but I think it will be on the list for the next time we go. There is just so much to see and do in New York and I think the bus tour really showed us that. I don't even know if we would see everything we wanted to see after several trips to The Big Apple.

It was quite sad to say goodbye but by this time we were completely exhausted and just couldn't wait to get home. Our flight with BA was smooth and we even managed to have our bags for when we got home!

I did plenty of shopping so I will share a post soon about my haul!

See you soon,

Rachael xox.

New York Trip: Day Five

Hi all,

A little delayed but here is New York Day Five!! We were quite tired at this point but had quite a few bits and pieces we wanted to see and do, especially shopping. We started our day with a trip back to ellen's stardust diner for breakfast. They mixed up our order a little so wasn't a great start to the day but the serenading definitely eased any tension over this. We had a stroll from here over to Bloomingdales. Bloomingdales was amazing and very modern looking. I bought a lot of goodies but I will pop them all in a separate haul post. I could have spent forever in there, had this been a girly holiday instead of being with the hubby then I probably would have! We then popped over to Serendipity 3 which is just around the corner. I have wanted to go to both Bloomingdales and Serendipity ever since I saw the film Serendipity. Chris got the frozen hot chocolate and I got the cheesecake. They were both delicious!! We then strolled back along to fifth avenue and spent the rest of the afternoon shopping. Fifth Avenue was really busy but it was a Saturday. I got dragged out of Tiffany's with my credit card in hand, only under the promise that future gifts would come in the form of charms for my bracelet. If you are going to New York, when you go to Fifth Avenue (and you will), make sure to pop in to St Patrick's cathedral for a good look around. It is a beautiful and stunning cathedral and has the most intricate designs. We sat for a while, lit a candle and just took it all in. There was a wedding in occurence in the middle of the aisles. I don't think I would like to have a wedding infiltrated by a massive amount of tourists.

On that evening we were absolutely exhausted. I think the full week and the jet lag had finally caught up on us so we grabbed a pizza from Ray's Pizza. It was just down the road from us at our hotel. We also got some mozzarella sticks which were gorgeous. We snacked on Cheetos from the rest of the night too. For us English, there comparison would be wotsits but Cheetos are unreal.

That is it from Day Five. More from New York soon.

It's a dog's life ...

Hi,

I absolutely love my little puppies.

We have Luna who is a Chihuahua Yorkie cross and is a year and a month old now and Dexter who is a Chihuahua Lhasa Apso cross and is only 10 months old. They have the loveliest little personalities. Dexter is playful but laid back and Luna is cuddly and skittish. They both enjoy little walks along the beach and occasionally like getting dressed up.

More to come from these two, they are always getting up to naughty things!

New York Trip: Day Four

Hi everyone,

We are upto day four already! I am exhausted just thinking about all that we did when we were there but we were in the city that doesn't sleep! We walked upto central Park to go to the Plaza hotel as there is a food court below with several patisseries. We got freshly squeezed orange juice and a pastry and ate it surrounded by Plaza luxury! We then took a sneaky exit past the Palm Court and through the lobby area. Not at all expensive and I think we are going to be doing the afternoon tea there the next time we go! We then walked into the park. If you go to Central Park, you need to really research beforehand which areas you want to see. I have been before so I left all of this to hubby. He really just wanted to go to the fountain and have a little walk about. You are literally stopping every 30 seconds to take photographs too as the juxtoposition of the skyscrapers against the greenery is stunning. You are also surrounded by areas that you instantly recognise from TV and film and at one point we just sat on a bench and pointed out different areas. During the summer months, they have a lot of events on in the park and we walked by a Stihl saw event (lumberjacking!!!), that we didn't have much interest on but there was a full itinerary of events. You can see these at The Dairy which is a gift shop/information centre. We didn't do the zoo when we were there but just due to time constraints! It is on the list for next time.

We saw people rowing on little boats and being the adventurers we are, decided to take a little trip around the pond. It was quite cheap to hire and you got a full hour rowing - it was red hot and we managed to get some shaded areas but the photographs from the boat are the best (in my opinion) as well as the cute little tortoises resting on the rocks!! We finished up at the Loeb Boathouse afterwards which is a little pricey but we went to the little snack bar at the back for lunch (sandwiches were gorgeous). On our way out of the park we visited Strawberry Fields. It is a large area, gifted by Yoko Ono in memory of John Lennon. We also visited the Imagine circle although this was extremely packed and crowded with tourists - there are a lot of street musicians playing Beatles music which would have been quite beautiful if not for the swarms of people. As you leave the park, you can also see the apartment block where Yoko Ono lives and the lanterns that have been lit for John, as he was shot just outside these apartments.

Deciding on a siesta (it was soo hot) we jumped in a cab and freshened up (and had a nap) at the hotel. The plan for the evening was Times Square and this was literally 2 minute walk from our hotel which made a change! We went to the superdry, mac, sephora, h and m, disney and Toys r us and spent a lot of time in those places. Both Mac and Sephora have a DJ working in them - absolute craziness. The Disney shop is a paradise for children (and adults) and Toys R Us actually has a three storey ferris wheel inside it which was just so surreal. You can actually go on it!

We were going for food at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. but weren't quite ready to eat so we took a detour to Hard Rock Cafe for cocktails. They didn't skimp out on measures because we were truly half cut before we got to the Bubba Gump Shrimp. We had to wait a little while for our meals but they were gorgeous. We had a bit of souvenir shopping beforehand so that killed time. Food was lovely and the service was fab. The decor of the place was amazing and the theme just ran all the way through; we even got quizzed on our knowledge of the film!
